It is best to melt the pastilles in a water bath or in a container designated for wax, and it is advisable to keep the heating under supervision. Melted wax is hot, so handle it carefully and keep it out of reach of children. Use separate utensils for melting, as wax can be difficult to remove from regular pots. After each use, securely close the opened bag and store it in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to keep the pastilles clean. When making larger batches, prepare all forms, wicks, and other ingredients in advance, as melted wax will begin to set quickly at room temperature. Wipe the container with a paper towel while the wax is still warm and soft.
