Wall sockets
Wall-mounted sockets supply power to appliances in every room, and their design affects both safety and the look of your interior. Choose from single and double sockets for flush or surface mounting, models with USB ports, outdoor sockets with a hinged lid and sockets with child protection.
Wall sockets
Flush-mounted sockets fit into a back box in the wall, with only a slim cover plate and frame protruding, so they look unobtrusive. Surface-mounted versions are screwed directly onto the wall and suit cellars, garages or workshops where cables run along the surface. Multi-gang frames let you combine several sockets and switches in one row.
Sockets with USB ports charge your phone or tablet without an adapter. Safety shutters in the openings stop children from pushing small objects inside, while a lid with IP44 protection shields outdoor and bathroom sockets from splashing water. Before buying, check that the socket type matches the standard in your country – in Ireland, this is type G (BS 1363).
Continental European sockets (type E/F) are rated at 16 A and 250 V, while Irish type G sockets are rated at 13 A. Leave replacing or installing a new socket to a qualified electrician, as it involves working on the fixed installation.
