Banknote counters and counterfeit detectors

At the daily till close, in a shop or at a bureau de change, counting cash by machine saves time, and checking security features reduces the risk of accepting a counterfeit note. Banknote counters and counterfeit detectors include portable and electric banknote counters with UV, MG and IR detection, euro coin counters and sorters, pocket detectors with UV light, a detector pen and a magnifier with UV light. They suit shops, tills and checking cash at home.

Banknote counters and counterfeit detectors

Banknote counters count a bundle of notes faster than counting by hand. The portable models handle 600 or 1,000 notes per minute; one has a hopper for 200 notes and another comes with a carry bag and adapter. As well as counting, the electric counter with an LED display offers adding, batching by a chosen number of notes and an alarm for suspicious notes.

UV, MG and IR detection protects against counterfeits. UV detection checks features that glow under ultraviolet light, MG detection checks the magnetic ink and IR detection measures how the note reflects infrared radiation. Two of the counters and a separate counterfeit detector with an LCD display, which runs on a battery or adapter, combine all three methods.

Pocket detectors are for quick checks of individual notes. The 8.5 × 2.5 × 2 cm portable detector with UV light and alarm also checks passports and bank cards, the 13.2 cm detector pen is for a quick paper test, and the 60x magnifier with LED and UV light clips onto a phone to show print details. UV pocket torches with a 365 or 395 nm wavelength are also available.

Coin counters are designed for coins. The euro coin counter with sorting holds 850 coins and counts 147 coins per minute, while the portable coin counter and sorter handles 300 coins per minute and has a 700-coin hopper.

When choosing banknote counters and counterfeit detectors, the amount of cash and the level of checking needed are what matter. A portable counter or pocket detector is enough for a small shop, while a counter with combined UV, MG and IR detection suits busier tills.
