The basis of camera care is an air blower that blows dust off the lens, filter, viewfinder or camera body without touching it. For fine dirt and fingerprints, a 2-in-1 cleaning pen has a soft brush at one end and a cleaning tip for lenses and filters at the other.
Camera cleaning kits offer everything you need in one pack, from simple 3-in-1 sets to large kits with dozens of pieces. Besides the blower, pen and brush, they may include a microfibre cloth, cleaning solution, lens tissue, gloves or tweezers. They usually come in a pouch or a hard zip case that fits in your camera bag.
For a thorough sensor clean, there are sensor cleaning swabs 16 mm wide for APS-C cameras and 24 mm wide for full frame. Individually vacuum-packed with a microfibre head, they gently remove dust and smudges from CMOS and CCD sensors, according to the manufacturer. Some come with cleaning fluid.
