Garden sun loungers
Comfortable resting on the terrace, by the pool and in the garden. Garden sun loungers include reclining and folding models, rocking and beach loungers, and relax chairs with a footrest, individually and in sets. They differ in frame construction and load capacity as well as in cover and level of comfort, so it is easy to choose a lounger for a short spell in the sun or for relaxing all day.
Garden sun loungers
The best way to rest lying down outdoors is a comfortable lounger with good support for the back and legs. Garden sun loungers differ from ordinary chairs in that they let you adjust the backrest or lower the whole lounger almost flat, so they suit sunbathing, reading and napping. They are chosen by construction, load capacity, cover and how often they will be folded and carried.
Depending on the design, the types of lounger differ. Reclining models have several backrest angles, folding and beach loungers fold up and carry easily, and rocking loungers and relax chairs with a footrest add a rocking motion and support for the legs. Some have wheels for easy moving, a sun canopy or a side table.
The frame and load capacity are decisive. The most common is an aluminium frame, which is light and does not rust, a steel one is stronger and more stable, and a wooden one (for example acacia or eucalyptus) looks natural. The load capacity is usually given in kilograms and is best chosen with some margin; a sturdier frame and a wider lying surface increase stability and comfort.
Comfort is provided by the cover and padding. Breathable fabric (textilene, Oxford weave) dries quickly and is easy to clean, while removable cushions and mattresses add softness and can be washed. On models that stay outside, materials resistant to moisture and UV are useful, and for the winter it is practical to fold the lounger away and store it, or protect it with a cover.
