Jaw exercisers

Jaw exercisers are small silicone aids that you bite on to work your chewing muscles. You can choose single exercisers or sets with several resistance levels, from light to demanding. They fit in your pocket, so you can train at home, at work and on the go.

The simplest options are single-resistance jaw exercisers, for example 13, 18 or 22 kg. According to the manufacturer, you warm these in hot water before use and bite into them so they take the shape of your teeth and fit better. The exerciser with a case is easy to carry in your pocket or bag.

For gradual training, there are jaw exerciser sets with two, six or eight pieces. The larger sets include three or four resistance levels, for example 35 to 65 lb, which is about 16 to 30 kg. You start on a lighter level and move up once the exercise no longer feels hard.

Some of the exercisers are made of food-grade silicone without BPA, according to the manufacturer. Rinse them with water after training and let them dry. Keep sessions short at first and stop if your jaw hurts. If you have jaw joint problems, dentures or braces, ask your dentist before use.
