Leaf blowers

Autumn work in the garden goes faster when you do not have to rake the leaves together by hand. Here you will find leaf blowers for the garden and yard — corded electric ones, cordless battery models with no restriction on movement, and powerful petrol machines. The range often also includes combined units that not only blow the leaves away but also vacuum and shred them.

Leaf blowers

Fallen leaves, cut grass or fine debris on the path are gathered far more easily with a stream of air than with a rake. Garden leaf blowers pile the leaves up in moments and are suited to the lawn, paved paths and corners around the beds.

The machines differ mainly in their drive. Corded electric blowers are light, quiet and suited to smaller gardens near a socket. Battery models offer free movement without a cord and keep getting more powerful, though their run time depends on the battery capacity. Petrol blowers have the highest power and are independent of the mains, so they are used on large plots, but they are louder and heavier.

Alongside single-purpose blowers there are also combined units that not only blow the leaves away but also vacuum and shred them. The shredded material takes up less room in the collection bag and can be used for compost. By design, handheld models and backpack blowers for longer work are distinguished.

When choosing, look at the air speed and air volume, which determine the real power, as well as the weight, noise level and, for battery models, the run time. A light electric model is enough for a small yard, while a large garden calls for a more powerful battery or petrol machine.

For comfortable work, blow the leaves in the direction of the wind and when dry, as wet leaves move less well. Clean the machine after the season and store the battery charged so it lasts longer.
