Carving knives and chisels

Carving knives and chisels are used to carve spoons, bowls, figures and reliefs from wood. You'll find single knives with a skew, curved or hooked-tip blade, sets with a hook knife for spoons, carving chisel sets and a complete kit with cut-resistant gloves.

Carving knives and chisels

For hand carving there are carving knives with stainless, chrome or chrome vanadium steel blades and wooden handles. A skew blade handles rough shaping, while a curved blade and hooked tip take care of fine detail. Sets contain 3 to 5 knives, some with a hook knife for hollowing out spoons or bowls. The five-piece set also includes a fabric roll and polishing compound for stropping the edge.

For heavier stock removal and reliefs there are carving chisels with straight, skew and half-round blades. Some sets of 8 and 12 chisels in manganese or carbon steel come with a roll-up case or zip case with a sharpening stone. For joinery there are sets of flat chisels from 6 to 25 mm wide, for example in HRC60 chrome vanadium steel in a wooden box.

To get started, there's a complete carving kit with 3 knives and 3 small chisels in chrome steel, cut-resistant gloves, a leather strop, polishing compound and a case. Keep the edge sharp by stropping regularly, and always carve away from your body.
