Coffee Filters
The resulting flavour of filter coffee is significantly influenced by the type of filter used. Coffee filters include paper, fabric and metal variants that differ in permeability, the capture of oils and fine particles, and thus also in the character of the resulting drink.
Coffee Filters
The flavour and structure of the resulting drink depend on the way the coffee is filtered. Coffee filters ensure the separation of the ground coffee from the drink and at the same time determine how many fine particles and oils pass into the cup. It is precisely this difference that has a fundamental influence on the resulting profile of the coffee.
For preparation, paper filters are commonly used, which create a cleaner and lighter flavour thanks to their high ability to capture fine particles. Conversely, metal filters let through more oils, which leads to a fuller body of the drink. Fabric filters represent an alternative, combining the properties of both variants.
Besides the material, the shape and compatibility with a particular type of device are also important. Different sizes and designs match specific drippers or coffee makers, which influences the course of extraction. The density of the filter also matters, as it determines the speed of water flow and thus the resulting intensity of the flavour.
The way of use and subsequent care are also reflected in the result. Single-use variants are thrown away after use, while reusable ones need to be cleaned regularly. The right choice of filter makes it possible to adapt coffee preparation to individual preferences and to a particular method.
