Overview
Wide V-Chisel 6 mm with a V-Shaped Blade at Approximately 60° Forged Blade and Wooden Handle for Deep Grooves and Relief Carving

The V-chisel with a blade width of 6 mm carves a wide groove of triangular cross-section into wood. The walls of the groove are slanted and the bottom sharp, as both edges form an angle of approximately 60°. Such a line is pronounced and clearly readable even on large surfaces, such as boards, furniture, or wooden signs. The chisel is suitable for deep outlines, separating parts of reliefs, carving large letters, and decorative patterns. It will be appreciated by carvers and DIY enthusiasts who need to quickly create a wider line.

The forged blade continues into a shank that is set into a handle made of light wood. The handle has a round shape and fits comfortably in the palm, allowing the tool to be easily rotated and guided along curves during cutting. Between the wood and metal, there is a gold-coloured ferrule that finishes the wooden part of the handle. The manufacturer states that for forged blades, the measuring tolerance may be ±1 mm, so the width of the groove may slightly differ from the nominal value.

The width of 6 mm is useful wherever a pronounced line or a quicker process is needed on a larger motif. The V-chisel can be used to carve the outline of the future relief and thus separate the area that will then be deepened with flat or gouging chisels. It also serves well for decorating the edges of boards, frames, and chests, when carving inscriptions on signs or stylised plant and geometric ornaments. The wider edge can create a groove with fewer strokes and help deepen the shadows between surfaces on the finished piece.

When cutting, lead the chisel at a slight angle and push it smoothly; the depth of the groove is controlled by the tool's inclination to the surface. Cutting along the grain produces a cleaner cut, while against the grain, the wood tends to tear, so it is better to remove smaller shavings. Create a deep line gradually with several strokes, not with one strong pressure. Before working on the finished piece, test the cut on a scrap of the same wood. After use, clean the chisel, store it in a dry place, and regularly hone the edge.

The V-chisel with a 6 mm blade is designed for work where the line should impress with its width and depth. It finds application in outlines, inscriptions, and decor on larger wooden pieces. Forged blade and handle made of light wood with a round cross-section make the chisel a simple and easily manageable tool. You can use it on its own or expand your set of chisels with a wider V-shaped profile.
