Overview
Wide Flat Wood Chisel 18 mm with a 115 mm Blade Made of Chrome-Vanadium Steel and a Rubber Handle with a Metal Cap for Use with a Mallet

The wide flat wood chisel with a blade width of 18 mm is capable of rapid material removal and precise finishing of larger surfaces. The blade, measuring 115 mm in length, features a straight edge bevelled on one side, allowing for accurate guiding along the marking line. It is suitable for chiselling wider openings, adjusting fittings on beams, levelling tenons, and cleaning the bottoms of grooves. With a width of 18 mm, it removes wood faster than narrower chisels while remaining manageable for fine work. The chisel is sold individually, making it easy to expand your tool collection.

The blade made of chrome-vanadium steel transitions into a metal pin that runs through the entire handle and is finished with a metal cap at the end. This construction is designed for use with a mallet, as the force of the blow is directed into the steel rather than the plastic handle. The handle is 125 mm long, ergonomically shaped, and features a TPR rubber surface that enhances grip and prevents slipping in the hand. The orange and black colouring makes the tool visible on the workbench and in a workshop full of shavings. This way, you have the chisel firmly under control and can focus on the precision of your cuts.

Secure the wood in a vice or with clamps to the workbench before starting, to prevent movement during strikes. First, mark the boundaries of the mortise, then position the chisel perpendicular to the marking line and proceed towards the waste in smaller layers. For final finishing of the walls, hand pressure alone is sufficient without a mallet. After use, clean the blade of shavings, dry it, and occasionally hone the edge on a sharpening stone to maintain a precise cut. Store the chisel in a dry place and protect the edge from impacts with other metal tools.

The 18 mm flat chisel is an excellent choice when you need to remove more wood at once while maintaining a flat and clean surface. It combines a tool steel blade with a comfortable handle designed for use with a mallet. Weighing 207 g, it provides the necessary stability, and the chisel does not twist unnecessarily during strikes. It is useful for furniture building, carpentry work, and repairs of wooden structures in the home and garden. It is a reliable addition to the workshop for both beginners and experienced carpenters.
