Storm Glass Large Drop 19 x 9.3 cm Glass Barometer with Crystals on Wooden Base Transparent Decoration for Living Room

The Storm Glass is a traditional tool that indicates the weather based on the state of the crystals in the liquid. This large drop made of clear glass has a height of 19 cm and a diameter of 9.3 cm, standing on a wooden base. Inside is a sealed mixture of distilled water, alcohol, potassium nitrate, ammonium chloride, and camphor. With changes in temperature and weather, white crystals form, dissolve, and grow again. This means that every glance at the glass is slightly different, and the decoration never looks the same.
By observing the appearance of the liquid and crystals, one can estimate what to expect. Clear liquid indicates clear skies, cloudy liquid suggests overcast conditions, and small stars in the liquid may foretell snow. Large flake-like crystals at the bottom relate to cooler weather, while fluffy feather-like formations indicate approaching changes. It is an interesting display of crystallisation that can be observed day by day. The shape of the drop, with its slender elongated neck, appears elegant and clean. The glass is transparent, allowing the crystals to be seen clearly from all sides.

The larger drop on a wide base is a striking piece for the living room, study, or on a dresser, where it can be easily seen from across the room. Place the glass in a stable location out of reach of children and pets. The crystals primarily react to temperature, making it interesting to observe them by a window, where they change the most. Do not open or tilt the bulb; the filling is intended for observation only. Dust can be wiped away with a dry or slightly damp cloth. After moving to a new location or unpacking, allow the glass a few days for the crystals to settle and begin reacting to the conditions in the room. In direct sunlight and near heating, the liquid may clear up and the crystals may dissolve; conversely, in a cooler room, there tend to be more crystals.
The Storm Glass combines decoration and a small natural science curiosity in one item. The drop, with a height of 19 cm and a base measuring 11.2 x 11.2 x 2 cm, appears modest and fits both modern and classic interiors. The crystals within change throughout the year, offering a continually new perspective. It also makes a lovely gift for birthdays, Christmas, or as a thoughtful gesture for a colleague in the office. It will delight anyone who appreciates unusual decorations and keeps an eye on the weather.
