The jianzi kicking ball is a tool for the popular traditional game where the feather ball is kept in the air by repeated kicks with the feet. The ball measures 20 cm in height and consists of a tuft of colourful feathers attached to the bottom part that touches the foot during play. The base is made up of several layers of rubber rings and a hard plastic head with a green bottom covered in small bumps. The feathers are predominantly red with subtle yellow, green, and dark accents, making the ball highly visible in the air and on the grass. The game is enjoyed by children, teenagers, and adults and can be played individually or in a group.

The principle of the game is simple: the ball is tossed into the air and then kicked with the inside of the foot, the instep, or the knee to keep it from falling to the ground for as long as possible. The feathers act as a stabiliser and the ball falls back down with the bottom side facing down, which makes the next kick easier. The bottom part made of layered rubber rings is comfortable on the foot even during extended play. It can be played in a circle with friends, in pairs over an imaginary net, or alone as training.
