A pack of five metres of heat shrink tubing with adhesive is a sensible supply for anyone who regularly repairs or modifies wiring. The internal diameter before shrinking is 6 mm and, thanks to the shrink ratio of 4:1, the tubing shrinks down to 1.5 mm when heated. Inside, there is a layer of hot melt adhesive that melts upon heating, filling the gaps around the wire and sealing the joint. The finished joint is electrically insulated and protected against moisture, corrosion, and dust. The total length of 5 m is sufficient for a large number of joints of various lengths.

The tubing is composed of two layers. The outer layer made of polyolefin protects the joint from abrasion and mechanical stress, while the inner adhesive hardens upon cooling and strengthens the joint against pull-out. After shrinking, the wall thickness is approximately 1.1 mm, with the adhesive layer accounting for about 0.4 mm. The material is self-extinguishing. The 6 mm diameter fits thicker wires, crimp connectors, cable lugs, and smaller cable bundles. Five metres will be appreciated by auto electricians, service technicians, model makers, and DIY enthusiasts who are wiring lights, repairing motorcycle and trailer wiring, or working on caravan electrical installations.

Unlike standard single-walled tubing without adhesive, this version prevents water from penetrating along the wire into the joint. Therefore, it is suitable for areas exposed to rain, splashing water, salt, or condensation, such as on vehicle rear lights, pump feeds, winches, solar panels, or garden lighting.

Thread a piece of tubing onto the wire before soldering or crimping, and after completing the joint, slide it so that it covers the joint in the middle. Heat it evenly all around with a hot air gun until it tightly shrinks and adhesive appears at the edges. The adhesive melts at a temperature of 100 °C. Work from the centre towards the edges to allow air to escape from the joint. Handle the cable only after the joint has cooled.

The black double-walled tubing with adhesive with a diameter of 6 mm is a reliable material for insulating thicker wires in cars, boats, workshops, and outdoor installations. The layer of hot melt adhesive ensures sealing of the joint, which can withstand moisture and vibrations. The 5 m long pack is sufficient for extensive wiring as well as for numerous later repairs. Cut the required piece with ordinary scissors. Roll up the remaining tubing and store it in a box with the other tools.
