A ten-metre pack of heat shrink tubing with adhesive is a practical supply for anyone who regularly connects and repairs cables. The internal diameter before shrinking is 4 mm, and due to the shrink ratio of 4:1, the tubing shrinks to as small as 1 mm when heated. Inside, there is a layer of hot melt adhesive that melts upon heating and fills the space around the wire. The joint is then electrically insulated and protected against moisture, corrosion, and dirt. The total length of 10 m is sufficient for a large number of smaller connections.

The tubing is double-walled. The outer layer made of polyolefin protects the joint from abrasion and mechanical stress, while the internal adhesive hardens upon cooling, reinforcing the joint. After shrinking, the wall thickness is approximately 1.0 mm, with the adhesive layer making up about 0.4 mm. The material is self-extinguishing. Large packs are appreciated by auto electricians, service technicians, model makers, and DIY enthusiasts who are wiring lighting, repairing vehicle, boat, and motorcycle wiring, or assembling electronics. The tubing is also useful for protecting cable loops, connectors, and areas with damaged insulation.

Compared to standard single-walled tubing, the adhesive version offers significantly better protection against water ingress into joints. It is particularly suitable where wiring is exposed to the elements, splashing water, de-icing salt, or condensation. Before soldering or crimping, slide a piece of tubing onto the wire and after completing the joint, slide it so that it covers the joint in the middle. Heat evenly around with a hot air gun until the tubing tightly shrinks and adhesive appears at the edges. The adhesive melts at a temperature of 100 °C. Work from the centre towards the edges to allow air to escape from the joint. Once cooled, the joint is solid and ready for use.

Black heat shrink tubing with adhesive with a diameter of 4 mm is a reliable material for insulating thin wires in cars, boats, workshops, and outdoor installations. The layer of hot melt adhesive ensures a waterproof seal for the joint, which can withstand moisture and vibrations. The 10 m long pack is advantageous for extensive projects as well as for long-term storage in the workshop. Simply cut off the needed piece with scissors and heat it.
