Heat Shrink Tubing with Adhesive 18 mm 1 m Shrink Ratio 4:1 Dual Wall Polyolefin Black Sealing of Joints for Heavy Cables and Wire Bundles

This dual wall heat shrink tubing with adhesive, with a diameter of 18 mm, is designed for insulating and sealing joints of thick cables, large cable loops, terminals, and wire bundles. Before shrinking, it has an inner diameter of 18 mm and, thanks to a shrink ratio of 4:1, it shrinks to approximately a quarter of its original diameter when heated. It tightly wraps around joints that are much thicker on one end than the other, such as a crimped eye at the end of a wire. The inner layer of hot melt adhesive melts with heat and seals the joint from the inside against water and moisture. The pack contains 1 m of tubing, which you can cut into pieces as needed.

The tubing has two layers. The outer sheath made of polyolefin protects the joint from abrasion and mechanical damage, while the inner adhesive hardens upon cooling, bonding the tubing to the insulation and reinforcing the joint against tension. The material is self-extinguishing. The 18 mm diameter is suitable for heavy power and battery cables, for welding and starting cables, for large cable loops and terminals, and for connecting several wires into one bundle. The wide range of shrinkage allows one diameter to cover cables of various thicknesses. One metre is sufficient for a one-time repair or minor adjustment of power cabling.

Compared to tubing without adhesive, this version offers much better protection against water ingress along the wire. Therefore, it is especially suitable for cables that are outdoors or in damp environments, such as for connections to winches, wiring to car batteries, circuits for solar panels, powering pumps, or electrical installations on boats.

Before joining, slide a piece of tubing onto the cable and after completing the joint, move it over its centre. Heat it evenly from all sides with a heat gun until it tightly shrinks and adhesive appears at the edges. The adhesive melts at a temperature of 100 °C. Work from the centre of the joint towards the edges to allow air to escape, and move the cable only after it has completely cooled.

The black dual wall tubing with adhesive, with a diameter of 18 mm, protects joints of thick cables, large cable loops, and wire bundles. The layer of hot melt adhesive seals the joint against water and reinforces it against tension. The metre pack is suitable for quick repairs in cars, garages, workshops, and on boats. Simply cut off the required piece, slide it onto the cable, and heat it. Keep the remaining tubing for future repairs.
