This heat shrink tubing with an internal adhesive layer, measuring 16 mm in diameter, is designed for insulating joints of thick cables, large cable loops, and terminals. Thanks to the shrink ratio of 4:1, it shrinks from 16 mm down to 4 mm when heated, ensuring a snug fit even on uneven and gradually tapering joints. The hot melt adhesive inside flows when heated, filling the space between the conductor and the tubing, and sealing the joint. The result is an insulated joint protected against moisture and dirt. The package contains 3 m of tubing, which you can cut into the required lengths.
The tubing consists of two layers. The outer polyolefin sheath is abrasion-resistant and protects the joint during bending and vibrations, while the internal adhesive solidifies upon cooling, reinforcing the joint against pull-out. After shrinking, the wall thickness is approximately 1.7 mm, with the adhesive layer making up about 0.6 mm. The material is self-extinguishing. This diameter is suitable for thick power cables, battery cables, welding cables, large cable loops, and for joining multiple conductors into a bundle. Three metres is sufficient for repairing power wiring in a vehicle and for several smaller modifications in a workshop.
As the adhesive prevents water from entering along the conductor into the joint, the tubing is well-suited for outdoor and damp environments. It is ideal for wiring in the undercarriage, for powering pumps and winches, for solar installations, for battery storage, or for electrical installations on boats.

Slide the tubing onto the cable beforehand, and after connecting the conductors, move it over the centre of the joint. Heat it evenly all around with a hot air gun until it fully shrinks and the adhesive oozes out at the edges. The adhesive melts at temperatures from 100 °C. Start heating from the centre and move towards the edges to allow air to escape from the joint. Only move the joint once it has cooled down and the adhesive has set.
Three metres of black double-walled tubing with a diameter of 16 mm will serve well for insulating thick wires and cable loops. The internal adhesive layer seals the joint while also reinforcing it against tension. The tubing can be easily cut to any length with scissors and shrunk using a hot air gun. It is useful in garages, during caravan construction, on boats, and in home workshops. Keep any unused piece for your next repair.
