Overview
Heat Shrink Tubing 4 mm 2 m with Adhesive Layer Shrink Ratio 4:1 Double-Walled PE Tube Black Sealing of Soldered Joints and Wire Ends

Double-walled heat shrink tubing with adhesive is used for insulating and sealing wire connections, cable ends, and soldered joints. Before shrinking, it has an internal diameter of 4 mm and, due to the 4:1 ratio, can shrink down to 1 mm when heated. Inside, there is a layer of adhesive that melts with heat, adheres to the wire insulation, and seals the entire joint. The tubing thus protects against moisture, dust, and oxidation of contacts. The package contains 2 m of tubing, providing a sufficient supply for multiple tasks.

The outer casing is made of polyolefin (PE), which is abrasion-resistant and provides electrical insulation. The internal adhesive layer hardens upon cooling and additionally mechanically strengthens the joint, preventing the cable from bending excessively at the connection point. After shrinking, the total wall thickness is approximately 1.0 mm, with the adhesive layer measuring about 0.4 mm. The material is self-extinguishing. The 2 m length is suitable for repairing wiring in cars, motorcycles, garden lighting, or during the construction of electronic projects. The tubing can also be used to protect cable loops, connectors, and areas where the wire insulation is damaged, restoring the cable's original durability.

Before connecting wires, cut a piece of tubing to the required length and slide it onto one of the wires. After soldering or crimping, move the tubing over the joint and heat it with a hot air gun. Heat evenly until the casing tightly presses down and a bit of adhesive oozes out from the edges. The adhesive melts at a temperature of at least 100 °C. Allow the finished joint to cool undisturbed. When heating, work from the centre towards the edges to expel air from the joint and distribute the adhesive evenly along the length.

The black heat shrink tubing with adhesive is a reliable solution for permanently sealing connections of thin wires with a diameter of up to 4 mm. It is suitable for automotive electronics, marine wiring, outdoor lighting, and for repairing electronics at home. The thick wall and layer of hot melt adhesive protect the joint from water and corrosion much better than insulating tape. The 2 m package will last for numerous repairs, and you can cut pieces from the tubing to the exact size you need. Working with it is straightforward, and the result looks neat and tidy. The tubing requires no special tools other than scissors and a heat source.
