Overview
Heat Shrink Tubing 16 mm 5 m with Adhesive Inside Shrink Ratio 4:1 Double-Walled PE Black Tight Connections for Heavy Cables in Workshop, Car and Boat

A five-metre pack of double-walled heat shrink tubing with adhesive, with a diameter of 16 mm, is suitable for extensive work on power cabling. The internal diameter before shrinking is 16 mm and, due to the shrink ratio of 4:1, the tubing shrinks down to 4 mm when heated. It reliably covers joints of varying thicknesses, such as cable lugs, crimped connectors, or branches. The internal adhesive melts with heat and seals the joint from the inside. The package contains 5 m of tubing, which you can cut to size as needed.

The outer layer made of polyolefin protects the joint from abrasion and dirt, while the internal adhesive solidifies after cooling, bonding the tubing to the insulation of the wire and mechanically reinforcing the joint. The wall thickness after shrinking is approximately 1.7 mm, with the adhesive comprising about 0.6 mm. The material is self-extinguishing. The 16 mm diameter is used for thick power cables, battery and starter cables, welding cables, large cable lugs, and wire bundles. Five metres is sufficient for modifying wiring in several vehicles or for larger electrical installations.

Waterproof sealing is crucial wherever cables come into contact with water, de-icing salt, or humid air. Therefore, you will use the tubing for wiring in the undercarriage of a car, for connections to winches, for boat wiring, for solar installations, and for battery storage systems.

  • Type – double-walled heat shrink tubing with an internal layer of hot melt adhesive

  • Internal Diameter After Shrinking – up to 4 mm
  • Wall Thickness After Shrinking – 1.7 mm ± 0.15 mm
  • Adhesive Layer Thickness – 0.6 mm ± 0.15 mm
  • Length – 5 m
  • Material – PE (polyolefin)
  • Colour – black
  • Properties – self-extinguishing and waterproof seals the joint
  • Contents – heat shrink tubing with adhesive, diameter 16 mm, length 5 m

Before connecting, slide a piece of tubing onto one of the wires, and after completing the joint, slide it over the centre of the joint. Evenly heat the tubing with a heat gun around the entire circumference until it tightly shrinks and adhesive appears at the edges. The adhesive melts at temperatures from 100 °C. Heat from the centre towards the edges to avoid air bubbles under the tubing, and allow the joint to cool before subjecting it to further stress.

Five metres of black tubing with adhesive, with a diameter of 16 mm, is a suitable supply for working with thick power cables. The layer of hot melt adhesive creates a solid and waterproof covering around the joint. The tubing is easy to cut and shrink, and working with it does not require special tools other than a heat gun. It is applicable in cars, boats, caravans, and workshops. The remainder of the pack will be ready for further joints.
