Overview
Heat Shrink Tubing 16 mm 2 m with Hot Melt Adhesive Shrink Ratio 4:1 Double-Walled PE Insulation Black Protection for Welding and Battery Cable Connections

Double-walled heat shrink tubing with adhesive, measuring 16 mm in diameter, is used for insulating and sealing connections of thick wires. Before shrinking, it has an inner diameter of 16 mm and, with a shrink ratio of 4:1, it can shrink down to 4 mm when heated. The large shrinkage range allows it to wrap around connections that vary in thickness along their length, such as a cable lug crimped onto a thick wire. Inside, there is a layer of hot melt adhesive that melts when heated and fills the gaps around the connection. The package contains 2 m of tubing, which you can cut into pieces as needed.

The outer layer made of polyolefin protects the connection from abrasion, dust, and mechanical stress. The adhesive hardens upon cooling, firmly bonding the tubing to the cable insulation and preventing water from penetrating along the wire. The wall thickness after shrinking is approximately 1.7 mm, of which about 0.6 mm is the adhesive. The material is self-extinguishing. The 16 mm diameter is suitable for battery cables, starter and welding cables, large cable lugs, and for bundling several wires into one harness. Two metres is sufficient for several repairs or for modifying the power wiring of one vehicle.

The tubing with adhesive protects connections better than standard tubing without adhesive, making it suitable for areas where cables are exposed to moisture, dust, and vibrations. You can use it in the engine compartment, at the supply to a winch, with cables to battery storage, on a boat, or in the electrical installation of a caravan.

Slide a piece of tubing onto the cable before crimping or soldering, and after completing the connection, slide it to cover the entire joint. Heat it with a hot air gun evenly around the circumference until it tightly shrinks and a little adhesive appears at its edges. The adhesive melts at a temperature of 100 °C. Work from the centre towards the edges to avoid trapping air under the tubing, and bend the cable only after it has completely cooled.

The black heat shrink tubing with adhesive, measuring 16 mm in diameter and two metres long, is a practical helper for working with thick cables. Thanks to the layer of hot melt adhesive, it creates a waterproof and strong connection that withstands cable movement well. The tubing is easy to cut with a knife or scissors and shrinks with a standard hot air gun. You can use it in the garage, in the car, on the boat, or for repairs in the workshop. Store any leftover material for future use.
