Heat Shrink Tubing 12 mm 5 m with Adhesive Inside Shrink Ratio 4:1 Dual Wall PE Black Tight Seals for Power Cabling in Cars, Boats and Caravans

A five-metre pack of dual wall heat shrink tubing with adhesive, measuring 12 mm in diameter, is suitable for extensive work on power cabling. The internal diameter before shrinking is 12 mm, and due to the shrink ratio of 4:1, the tubing shrinks to as small as 3 mm when heated. It reliably wraps around joints of varying thicknesses, such as cable lugs, crimped connectors, or branches. The internal adhesive melts with heat and seals the joint from the inside. The pack contains 5 m of tubing, which can be cut to size as needed.

The outer layer made of polyolefin protects the joint against abrasion and dirt, while the internal adhesive hardens upon cooling, bonding the tubing to the wire insulation and mechanically reinforcing the joint. The wall thickness after shrinking is approximately 1.4 mm, with the adhesive constituting about 0.5 mm. The material is self-extinguishing. The 12 mm diameter is used for heavy power cables, battery and starter cables, large cable lugs, and wire bundles. Five metres is sufficient for modifying cabling in several vehicles or for a complete electrical installation in a caravan.

Waterproof sealing is crucial wherever cables come into contact with water, de-icing salt, or humid air. Therefore, the tubing is useful for cabling in a vehicle's undercarriage, for connections to winches, for boat wiring, for solar installations, and for outdoor lighting.

Before joining, slide a piece of tubing onto one of the wires and after completing the joint, slide it over the centre of the joint. Heat the tubing evenly around its circumference with a heat gun until it tightly shrinks and adhesive appears at the edges. The adhesive melts at a temperature of 100 °C. Heat from the centre towards the edges to avoid air bubbles under the tubing, and allow the joint to cool before subjecting it to further stress.

Five metres of black tubing with adhesive, measuring 12 mm in diameter, is a suitable supply for working with power cables. The layer of hot melt adhesive creates a solid and waterproof cover around the joint. The tubing is easy to cut and shrink, and working with it does not require special tools other than a heat gun. It is applicable in cars, boats, caravans, and workshops. The remainder of the pack will be ready for further joints.
