Gateron G Pro 3.0 Yellow linear switches are designed for mechanical keyboards where you want a smooth action without a tactile bump and without a click. The yellow variant has a medium stiffness in the G Pro 3.0 series with an operating force of 50 ± 15 gf and a bottom-out force of 67 gf, making the key slightly stiffer than the red switches, but still compressible without much effort. The switches have 3 pins and an MX type cross stem, which fits most standard keycaps. The package contains 30 switches, sufficient for equipping a smaller macro keyboard or numeric keypad, or for replacing the gaming section of a keyboard.
The third generation G Pro features reinforced pins that are more resistant to bending without increasing their thickness. The upper housing is transparent and according to the manufacturer better focuses light, making the switches suitable for keyboards with SMD RGB backlighting, and the light is distributed more evenly under the key than with the previous version 2.0. The switches are factory lubricated, so the action is smooth right out of the box and no further adjustments are necessary. The pre-travel is 2.0 ± 0.6 mm, the total travel is up to 4.0 mm, and the spring length is 15.4 mm.

Before replacement, ensure that the keyboard has hot-swap sockets with holes for the switch pins; it is not compatible with switch sockets of the clip type. Before inserting, check that the pins are straight, and insert the switch perpendicularly and without excessive force to avoid bending the pins. A switch puller, which is not included in the package, is useful for removing the original switches from a hot-swap keyboard.
Gateron G Pro 3.0 Yellow switches will be appreciated mainly by those looking for a balanced linear action between light and stiffer switches. The slightly higher operating force reduces unwanted presses while typing and gaming, and the smooth action without a tactile bump allows for rapid repeated presses. The set of 30 pieces is practical for replacing the gaming section of a keyboard, equipping a macro keyboard or numeric keypad, and there will be a few left over as spares. Yellow switches can also be combined with other switches on other keys if you want medium stiffness only on selected keys. Thanks to factory lubrication and the transparent housing, the switches are ready to use right out of the box and look great with backlighting.
