Gateron G Pro 3.0 Brown tactile switches are designed for mechanical keyboards where you want to feel a tactile bump upon pressing, but do not want a loud click. The brown variant features a medium stiff actuation force of 55 ± 15 gf, ensuring the key does not feel too light or too heavy. The switches have 3 pins and a cross-shaped MX stem, compatible with most standard keycaps. The package contains 90 switches, which is enough to equip a full TKL keyboard without a numeric section (87 keys) or a keyboard with a 75% layout, which has around 84 keys.
The third generation G Pro introduces reinforced pins that are more resistant to bending without increasing their thickness. The upper housing is transparent and, according to the manufacturer, better focuses light, making the switches suitable for keyboards with SMD RGB backlighting, and the light disperses more evenly under the key compared to the previous version 2.0. The switches are factory lubricated, ensuring a smooth operation right out of the box without the need for additional modifications. The pre-travel distance is 2.0 ± 0.6 mm, the total travel distance is up to 4.0 mm, and the spring length is 20.5 mm.

Before replacing, ensure that the keyboard has hot-swap sockets with holes for the switch pins; they are not compatible with socket types that use clips. Before inserting, check that the pins are straight, and insert the switch perpendicularly and without excessive force to avoid bending the pins. A switch puller, which is not included in the package, is useful for removing the original switches from a hot-swap keyboard.
Gateron G Pro 3.0 Brown switches are especially appreciated by those who type a lot and want clear feedback that the key has been pressed. The tactile bump during the travel helps to recognise the actuation point, so there is no need to bottom out the key, and the tactile feel remains quieter than that of clicky switches. The set of 90 pieces is sufficient for a complete installation of a TKL keyboard or a keyboard with a 75% layout, with a few switches remaining as spares in case of damage. It is a practical choice if you want to convert a keyboard without a numeric section to a uniform tactile feel.
