Gateron G Pro 3.0 Brown tactile switches are designed for mechanical keyboards where you want to feel a tactile bump upon pressing, but do not want a loud click. The brown variant has a medium stiff actuation with a force of 55 ± 15 gf, so the key does not feel too light or too heavy. The switches have 3 pins and an MX type cross stem, which is compatible with most standard keycaps. The package contains 110 switches, which is sufficient for equipping a full-sized keyboard with a 100% layout, including the numeric section, meaning 104 to 108 keys.
The third generation G Pro features reinforced pins that are more resistant to bending without increasing their thickness. The upper housing is transparent and according to the manufacturer, better focuses the light, making the switches suitable for keyboards with SMD RGB backlighting and the light diffuses more evenly under the key compared to the previous version 2.0. The switches are factory lubed, so the action is smooth right out of the box and no additional modifications are necessary. The pre-travel is 2.0 ± 0.6 mm, total travel is up to 4.0 mm, and the spring length is 20.5 mm.

Before replacing, ensure that the keyboard has hot-swap sockets with holes for the switch pins, as switches are not compatible with socket types that are not designed for hot-swap. Before inserting, check that the pins are straight, and insert the switch perpendicularly and without excessive force to avoid bending the pins. A switch puller, which is not included in the package, is useful for removing the original switches from a hot-swap keyboard.
Gateron G Pro 3.0 Brown switches are especially appreciated by those who type a lot and want clear feedback that the key has been pressed. The tactile bump during the travel helps to recognise the actuation point, so the key does not need to be bottomed out, and the tactile action remains quieter than that of clicky switches.
