Gateron G Pro 3.0 Black linear switches are designed for mechanical keyboards where you want a smooth action without a tactile bump and without a click. The black variant is among the stiffest linear switches in the G Pro 3.0 range with an operating force of 60 ± 15 gf and a bottom-out force of 70 gf, so the key provides noticeable resistance and your finger stays on it better. The switches have 3 pins and an MX type cross stem, compatible with most standard keycaps. The package contains 110 switches, sufficient for equipping a full-size keyboard with a 100 % layout including the numeric section, that is 104 to 108 keys.
The third generation G Pro features reinforced pins that are more resistant to bending without increasing their thickness. The upper housing is transparent and, according to the manufacturer, better focuses the light, making the switches suitable for keyboards with SMD RGB backlighting, and the light is dispersed more evenly under the key than in the previous version 2.0. The switches are factory lubricated, so the action is smooth right out of the box and no additional adjustments are necessary. The pre-travel distance is 2.0 ± 0.6 mm, the total travel distance is up to 4.0 mm, and the spring length is 15.4 mm.

Before replacement, ensure that the keyboard has hot-swap sockets with holes for the switch pins, as they are not compatible with socket types that are clamp-style. Before inserting, check that the pins are straight, and insert the switch perpendicularly and without excessive force to avoid bending the pins. A switch puller, which is not included in the package, is useful for removing the original switches from a hot-swap keyboard.
Gateron G Pro 3.0 Black switches will be appreciated mainly by those who prefer a stiffer linear action and do not want the key to respond to merely resting a finger on it. The higher operating force helps limit unintended presses while typing or gaming, and the even action without a tactile bump allows for rapid repeated presses. The set of 110 pieces is sufficient for a complete outfitting of a full-size keyboard with a numeric section, with several switches remaining as spares in case of damage. It is a practical choice if you want to convert the entire keyboard to a uniform stiffer linear action.
