Galileo Thermometer with 10 Coloured Balls Height 44 cm Borosilicate Glass Metal Tags Extra Tall Decoration for Living Room and Office
You already have the maximum available quantity in your cart.
The Galileo thermometer with 10 coloured balls is one of the tallest versions of this popular glass decoration. The slender cylinder, measuring 44 cm, is made of borosilicate glass and inside the clear liquid, ten coloured glass balls float. Each ball is attached to a metal tag indicating the temperature in degrees Celsius. By observing the position of the balls, you can easily estimate the approximate temperature in the room. The tall thermometer stands out on a floor shelf, sideboard, mantelpiece, or reception desk.
The operation of the thermometer is based on Galileo Galilei's principle that the density of a liquid changes with temperature. As the temperature rises, the liquid thins, and the balls gradually sink to the bottom of the cylinder; as the temperature drops, the liquid thickens, and the balls rise again. The current temperature is indicated by the lowest ball that is floating at the top. The ten balls distributed throughout the height of the cylinder provide a finer gradation of data than smaller models. The thermometer requires no batteries or electricity and operates completely silently.
The balls are filled with liquids of various colours, allowing the individual readings to be easily distinguished even from a distance. The metal tags with numbers are clearly readable through the clear walls of the cylinder. The colour arrangement changes throughout the day according to the temperature variations in the room, making the thermometer appear slightly different each time. It is also a visual demonstration of a physical phenomenon that will captivate students, teachers, technically-minded adults, and curious children. You can place it on a table thanks to the glass base at the bottom of the cylinder.

Place the thermometer on a stable, flat surface away from direct sunlight, radiators, or drafts to ensure it shows the actual air temperature. If all the balls float at the surface, the room is cooler than the lowest reading on the tags. If all are at the bottom, it is warmer than the highest reading. The reading is approximate; the thermometer primarily serves as a decoration. Clean the glass surface with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth without aggressive cleaning agents. Handle the tall cylinder with both hands and keep it out of reach of small children and pets.
The Galileo thermometer with 10 balls and a height of 44 cm is a representative glass ornament that combines interesting physics with an elegant appearance. It is suitable for the living room, study, office, waiting room, or corporate spaces. It will delight design enthusiasts, science lovers, and those who appreciate unusual interior accessories. It makes a suitable gift for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, or for business partners. You can read the temperature at a glance without any adjustments and without batteries.
