Overview
Extra Wide Flat Chisel 38 mm with 105 mm Blade Made of Chrome-Vanadium Steel and TPR Rubberised Handle for Carpentry and Joinery Work

The extra wide flat chisel with a blade width of 38 mm is designed for tasks where a large amount of wood needs to be removed and a large flat surface created. The blade length of 105 mm features a straight edge with a bevel on one side, which glides well on wood and leaves a smooth surface. The 38 mm width is suitable for shaping beams and blocks, aligning tenons, seating and recessing, as well as for finishing wide grooves. It is applicable in carpentry, joinery, and construction work involving wood. It is supplied as a single standalone piece.

The blade is made of chrome-vanadium steel, which is used in hand tools designed for more demanding tasks. A metal tang passes through the handle and at its end is a metal heel, allowing the chisel to withstand stronger blows from a mallet. The rubberised handle, measuring 125 mm, has an ergonomic shape with a TPR surface that is non-slip and provides a secure grip even during extended use. The orange colour of the handle with black elements makes it easy to locate the tool quickly on the worksite. The shorter blade combined with the large width of the edge gives the chisel a solid and well-controllable feel, which you will appreciate especially when flattening large surfaces and working on beams.

Secure the workpiece with clamps before working to prevent it from moving during blows with the mallet, and mark the boundaries of the material removal on the wood. Apply the wide edge with care and remove wood gradually, starting with the mallet and finishing with gentle hand strokes. Always lead the edge away from your body and keep your other hand clear of the blade's path. After finishing work, clean the chisel, dry the blade, and store it in a way that prevents damage to the edge. Regular honing on a sharpening stone will keep the chisel sharp.

The 38 mm flat chisel is the widest tool in the range and is suitable for any work involving larger pieces of wood. It combines a sturdy steel blade with a comfortable handle that can withstand blows from a mallet as well as precise hand guidance. With a weight of 255 g, it is stable and maintains direction well when flattening surfaces. You will find it useful in the construction of roofs, pergolas, and shelters, in the manufacture of solid furniture, and in the repair of wooden structures. It complements a set of narrower chisels with a tool for truly wide joints and surfaces. It will be appreciated by carpenters, joiners, and DIY enthusiasts alike.
