Dual Wall Heat Shrink Tubing 18 mm 3 m with Adhesive Ratio 4:1 Polyolefin Black Self-Extinguishing Waterproof Insulation for Power Wires and Bundles

The heat shrink tubing with an internal adhesive layer, with a diameter of 18 mm, is designed for insulating joints of thick cables, large cable loops, and terminals. With a shrink ratio of 4:1, it shrinks to about a quarter of its diameter when heated, tightly wrapping even uneven and gradually narrowing joints. The hot melt adhesive inside flows when heated, filling the space between the conductor and the tubing and sealing the joint. The result is an insulated joint protected against moisture and dirt. The package contains 3 m of tubing, which you can cut into the required lengths.

The tubing consists of two layers. The outer layer made of polyolefin is abrasion-resistant and protects the joint during bending and vibrations, while the inner adhesive hardens upon cooling, reinforcing the joint against pull-out. The material is self-extinguishing. This diameter is suitable for thick power cables, battery cables, welding cables, large cable loops, and for joining multiple conductors into a bundle. Due to the wide range of shrinkage, one diameter can cover cables of various thicknesses. Three metres is sufficient for repairing power cabling in a car or for several smaller modifications in a workshop.

As the adhesive prevents water from entering along the conductor into the joint, the tubing is well-suited for outdoor and damp environments. It is suitable for cabling in the chassis, for powering pumps and winches, for solar wiring, for battery storage, or for electrical installations on boats and in caravans. The tubing can also be used to repair damaged cable insulation by simply sliding it over the damaged area and heating it.

Slide the tubing onto the cable beforehand and after connecting the conductors, move it over the centre of the joint. Heat it evenly around with a hot air gun until it fully shrinks and the adhesive oozes out at the edges. The adhesive melts at a temperature of 100 °C. Start heating from the centre and work towards the edges to allow air to escape from the joint. Move the joint only after it has cooled down, when the adhesive has hardened.

Three metres of black dual wall tubing with a diameter of 18 mm will serve for insulating thick conductors and cable loops. The internal adhesive layer seals the joint while also reinforcing it against tension. The tubing can be easily cut to any length with scissors and shrunk with a hot air gun. It is useful in a garage, during caravan construction, on a boat, and in a home workshop. Keep any unused piece for the next repair.
