This practical darning and mending kit combines two tried-and-true tools in one package. The base is a wooden sponge for darning with a height of 10 cm, onto which you can stretch a sock, the sleeve of a jumper, or another part of clothing, ensuring that the fabric is evenly taut at the repair site. The second tool is a mini weaving loom measuring 7 x 8 cm with a series of small hooks, on which a new weave can be quickly created over the damaged area. This allows you to repair a worn heel of a sock, a hole in a knitted jumper, or a scuffed area on jeans. The set also includes embroidery thread in ten colours, needles, and elastic bands, so you can start repairing right after unpacking.
The sponge has a head with a diameter of 6 cm and a height of 2.5 cm, and a handle with a diameter of 3 cm that fits comfortably in your hand. The head can be detached from the handle, and there is a storage space for needles in the hollow foot with a depth of 6 cm and a diameter of 0.8 cm. You can secure the fabric on the head with a yellow elastic cord or one of the elastic bands, preventing it from shifting during work. When working, stretch the damaged area over the head of the sponge and secure it with an elastic band or cord. First, thread the longitudinal threads through the hole on the loom, then use the hooks to weave the transverse threads, creating a dense woven patch. Finally, tuck in the loose ends with a needle with a large eye. You can match the repair to the colour of the clothing, or alternatively choose a contrasting colour to create a visible decorative patch. The wooden parts can be wiped with a dry cloth, and needles should be stored in the case or in the hollow of the sponge.
This kit is suitable for beginners who want to try hand repairs on clothing as well as for experienced sewers and knitters. All components fit into a small space, so you can keep them handy in a sewing basket or take them with you on trips.
