Overview
Carving V Chisel 3 mm with Triangular Edge Approximately 60° Forged Blade and Light Wooden Handle for Outlines and Grooves in Wood Carving

The carving V chisel with a blade width of 3 mm creates a distinct groove in the wood with a triangular cross-section. Both edges form an angle of approximately 60°, resulting in a sharp bottom and regular sloping walls. This width is suitable for outlining motifs, separating individual areas of relief, and for more pronounced decorative lines. Compared to the narrowest sizes, it leaves a more visible mark while still allowing for detailed work. The chisel thus finds its place in the workshop of a carver, model maker, or DIY enthusiast who decorates wooden items.

The forged blade transitions into a shank that is set into a light wooden handle. The round shape of the handle allows for smooth rotation of the tool in the fingers when guiding curves. The wooden part is finished with a golden-coloured ferrule. The manufacturer notes that for forged blades, the measuring tolerance is ±1 mm, so the width of the groove may slightly differ from the nominal value.

A width of 3 mm represents a balanced compromise between finesse and distinctiveness of the line. It is suitable for carving larger letters, frames, geometric patterns, or leaf motifs on wooden boards, boxes, and decorations. When working on reliefs, the V chisel first cuts the outline, which helps prevent unwanted chipping of the wood beyond the edge of the motif, and only then is the area removed with gouges or flat chisels. It also serves well for the final highlighting of contours, giving the finished piece depth and clarity.

  • Type of tool – carving chisel with a V-shaped profile
  • Blade width – 3 mm
  • Edge angle – approximately 60°
  • Blade – forged, with shank set into the handle
  • Handle – light wood, round cross-section
  • Ferrule – metal, golden colour
  • Dimension tolerance – ±1 mm
  • Brand – Fixmee
  • Usage – wood carving, outlines, grooves and edges of reliefs
  • Contents of the package – 1 carving V chisel with a blade width of 3 mm

The chisel is held at a slight angle to the surface and is pushed with a steady hand motion. A steeper angle increases the depth of the groove, while a gentler angle shallows it. Cutting along the grain results in a smoother cut, while cutting against the grain is recommended to be done with smaller increments. A deep groove is best carved gradually with several strokes. After use, clean the tool of shavings, store it in a dry place, and sharpen the edge as needed to keep it well-cutting. Before the first use on a finished piece, it is advisable to test the cut on a scrap of the same wood.

The V chisel with a 3 mm edge is a handy tool for carvers who need clear yet still slender lines. It is suitable for outlines, separating areas of relief, and decorative grooves. Forged blade and round wooden handle create a simple tool without unnecessary accessories. The chisel can be used alone or to complement a set with a medium width of V profile.
