The braided heat shrink tubing combines the properties of classic heat shrink tubing and durable textile braiding. This piece has an inner diameter of 8 mm and a length of 1 m, making it suitable for power cables, thicker conductors, and smaller cable bundles. When heated with hot air, the braiding shrinks at a ratio of 2:1 and tightly wraps around the protected wiring. The braided surface is flexible, highly resistant to abrasion, and according to the manufacturer, helps reduce cable noise. The one-metre piece is ideal for minor repairs and protection of several short sections of thicker wiring.
Shrinking begins at approximately 80 °C and full shrinkage is achieved around 120 °C. A hot air gun is sufficient for heating, and the manufacturer also mentions the possibility of using a lighter. Upon cooling, the tubing forms a continuous textile layer that protects the insulation of the wires from mechanical damage, abrasion, and heat. The material is self-extinguishing with a flammability rating of VW-1 and withstands operating temperatures from −40 to +150 °C, making it suitable for wiring in cars or electrical appliances that heat up during operation. The tubing can be used to protect joints, terminate cables, extend conductors, and bundle several thin cables into one tidy bundle.
- Type – braided textile heat shrink tubing for cables
- Inner diameter – 8 mm before shrinking
- Diameter after shrinking – up to 4 mm
- Flat width – 15 ± 2 mm
- Length – 1 m in one continuous piece
- Shrink ratio – 2:1 (50 %)
- Shrinking temperature – starts at 80 °C, full shrinkage at 120 °C
- Operating temperature – −40 to +150 °C
- Melting point – 240 °C
- Flame resistance – self-extinguishing, class VW-1
- Properties – flexibility, abrasion resistance, thermal insulation, noise reduction
- Shrinking method – hot air gun or lighter
- Usage – electronics, electrical appliances, automation, car wiring, cable bundles
- Package contents – 1 x braided heat shrink tubing with an inner diameter of 8 mm and a length of 1 m
When selecting the size, refer to the diameter of the cable. The manufacturer recommends choosing tubing approximately 3 mm larger than the diameter of the protected wiring. For flat cables or bundles with a rectangular cross-section, the required diameter is calculated by adding the width and height, multiplying by two, dividing by 3.14, and adding 3 mm. The tubing is supplied in one piece, so you can cut it to the exact lengths you need before shrinking. Slide it onto the cable before connecting the connectors, then move it to the desired position and evenly heat it along its entire length.
The braided heat shrink tubing with a diameter of 8 mm is a practical accessory for anyone repairing, modifying, or newly installing electrical wiring. The length of 1 m is sufficient for a quick repair of a power cable or for protecting several short sections of a bundle. The textile surface protects the conductors from abrasion, the heat from the hot air gun shrinks it quickly, resulting in neatly and securely arranged wiring. Thanks to its self-extinguishing properties and resistance up to +150 °C, it can be used in electronics, automation, electrical appliances, and in vehicles.
