Beads for jewellery making

Fine work calls for the smallest glass and metal beads. Glass beads of 2 mm with a 1 mm hole come 2000 to a box with compartments and thread onto ordinary cords and wires. Metal beads of 2, 4 and 6 mm come in packs of 50–500, and handmade glass tulips and leaves give jewellery a spring motif.

The widest choice comes in acrylic beads, which are light and easy to thread. There are round beads of 6, 8 and 10 mm, baroque shapes, sweets with a clear wrapper, leaves and large A–Z letters with a 6 mm hole. Sets of 500–1240 pieces mix shapes and sizes, and ABS stringing beads measure 3–18 mm.

Firm favourites are polymer clay and silicone beads. Sets in boxes with compartments hold up to 3862 pieces, some with sea motifs such as shells, starfish or turtles. Silicone beads of 15 mm come in packs of 20, wooden beads in packs of 1100 and polymer Christmas beads in packs of 30.
