Overview
25 mm Carving Chisel with Curved Fluted Edge and Forged Curved Blade in Wooden Handle for Use with Mallet for Larger Carvings

This fluted chisel has a curved edge that is 25 mm wide and is designed for larger-scale carving work. With its wide edge, material is removed from the wooden block in broader strips, allowing for quicker shaping of larger surfaces. The blade is forged, tapering from a narrower neck to a wider edge and is slightly curved. The tool comes sharpened and with the handle fitted, so you can start working immediately. It is suitable for sculptures, larger bowls, decorative reliefs, and for hollowing deeper shapes.

The cylindrical wooden handle offers a secure grip and there is a metal conical transition between the handle and the blade that reinforces the joint. The chisel can withstand strikes from a mallet, making the removal of harder wood significantly easier than just using hand pressure. The handle is fitted with a deliberate slight play, so that it settles more firmly with tapping during use, and a slight gap upon unpacking is therefore not a defect. The curved blade allows the edge to be guided even in hollows, where a straight chisel would rest the handle against the edge of the workpiece. This is especially appreciated when hollowing the interiors of bowls and dishes.

When working, always keep the wood securely clamped so that it does not move during mallet strikes. Remove material gradually in thinner layers and in the direction of the grain, as this will keep the surface cleaner. Hold your hands behind the edge, never in front of it. A wooden or rubber mallet is more suitable for tapping, as it protects the end of the handle. After finishing work, wipe the blade clean of shavings and resin and allow it to dry. If the chisel is not used for an extended period, protect the blade with a thin layer of oil and store it so that the edge does not touch other metal tools. Regular honing of the edge will keep the tool in good condition.

The carving chisel with a width of 25 mm is a suitable choice for working on larger wooden products where a lot of material needs to be removed quickly. The fluted edge, curved forged blade, and cylindrical handle made of wood allow for working both with hand pressure and with a mallet. The chisel comes sharpened and ready for use. It is useful in the woodworker's workshop, during the production of bowls and sculptures, and in home DIY projects. After rough work, you can refine details with narrower tools that will seamlessly follow the wide chisel.
