Overview
Indian Neem Azadirachta indica 5 seeds tropical evergreen tree with small yellow-green fruits for greenhouse and interior

Indian neem (Azadirachta indica) is a renowned tropical tree from the mahogany family, originating from the Indian subcontinent and one of the most significant utility trees in Southeast Asia. In the package, you will find 5 viable seeds, from which you can grow an original evergreen tree directly in the conditions of a greenhouse, conservatory, or well-lit interior. The leaves of the neem are compound, pinnate and consist of narrow serrated leaflets with a prominent central vein, giving the plant an airy and decorative appearance. After flowering, small elongated drupes appear on the plant, which in their immature state have a typical yellow-green colour and hang in drooping racemes.

In natural conditions, the neem can grow to a height of ten to twenty metres and forms a bushy crown with spreading branches, but in container culture, it remains significantly smaller and can be easily shaped by pruning. This is a heat-loving species that requires a bright and airy location with a year-round temperature above ten degrees to maintain its foliage. It thrives in well-drained, slightly sandy soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline reaction, which is best combined with a portion of garden substrate. Once rooted, it tolerates short periods of drought better than waterlogging, so it is important not to overwater. Seeds germinate in a moist and warm substrate at approximately twenty-five to thirty degrees over several weeks.

Growing Indian neem from seeds is an interesting challenge for any lover of tropical and subtropical plants. We recommend sowing fresh seeds in light substrate, lightly covering them with soil, and maintaining constant moisture at room temperature. Young seedlings grow more slowly in the first year, but gradually speed up and create a typical finely divided crown with small leaves. Indian neem is an exceptional ornament for greenhouses, winter gardens, and well-lit interiors, where its exotic origin and unusual appearance will complement any collection of tropical hardwoods.
