Overview
Delonix Decaryi Seeds 10 pcs - Decary's Flame Tree, Exotic Timber for Growing Ornamental Trees and Bonsais

The package contains 10 quality seeds of the rare timber Delonix decaryi, also known as Decary's Flame Tree. This unusual species originates from the island of Madagascar and is among the plants sought after by collectors of rare tropical species. Growing from seed brings joy to enthusiasts as they observe the entire life cycle—from germination to the emergence of a young tree with a characteristic appearance. The seedlings are suitable for indoor cultivation, in a conservatory, or in a heated greenhouse, where the plant can thrive long-term. Due to its slower growth, the flame tree becomes a popular candidate for creating unconventional bonsais that will adorn any home.

For successful sowing, we recommend lightly scarifying the seeds before sowing with a file or sandpaper and then soaking them in lukewarm water for several hours. This simple preparation significantly improves germination rates, which can initially be lower for the hard seeds of the legume family. Once prepared, cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, keep them slightly moist, and maintain a temperature of around 25 to 28 °C, ideally under transparent film or in a mini greenhouse. The first roots typically appear within a few weeks, sometimes a bit later—however, patience pays off. Young plants require a well-draining substrate with a mix of sand or perlite, a bright spot without direct midday sun, and moderate watering to prevent root rot.
