Overview
Darjeeling Tea Plant Seeds Camellia sinensis 25 pcs Asian Tea Tree with Glossy Leaves for Sowing and Collectors' Home Cultivation

A larger pack of 25 pcs of tea plant seeds in the Darjeeling variety is an economical choice for growers who wish to dedicate themselves to this rarely offered tree on a larger scale and gradually cultivate several young plants for various locations in the interior or conservatory. This cultivar form originates from the mountainous regions at the foothills of the Himalayas in Indian West Bengal, where its leaves become the basis for the production of world-famous Darjeeling tea. The main decorative features of the plant are glossy dark green leathery leaves with serrated edges and white five-petalled flowers with a golden-yellow cluster of stamens, which appear on mature plants in the autumn. For hobby growers, this species represents a rarer solitary plant with utility value for producing one's own leaves for tea preparation and collector's value as an unusual tree from the family Theaceae.

Contents of the package:

  • 25 pcs of Camellia sinensis 'Darjeeling' seeds

When purchasing a larger pack, it is advantageous to divide the sowing into several series during spring and summer and monitor which set of conditions best suits your own growing environment. For successful germination, we recommend soaking the seeds overnight or even longer in lukewarm water and then sowing them in acidic permeable substrate in a covered tray. Germination of the tea plant is a long-term process and requires patience over several months, so do not despair if the seedlings do not emerge all at once. Young plants grow slowly and establish a solid structure in the first years. For cultivation in Central European conditions, the plant thrives best in container form with wintering in a cooler bright room, where temperatures remain above freezing. This pack of 25 Camellia sinensis 'Darjeeling' seeds is therefore suitable for anyone who wishes to dedicate themselves to the long-term cultivation of this unique Indian tea tree.
