Cat harnesses
A harness makes it possible to take a cat for a walk or an outing safely, without the risk of it escaping as with a plain collar. Here you will find cat harnesses of various types: H-shaped, vest-style and figure-of-eight, in light padded webbing or breathable mesh. Choose according to the chest circumference and the cat's temperament.
Cat harnesses
Unlike the collar, which in a cat mainly has an identification role, the harness is used for safe walking on a leash. It spreads the pull across the chest and shoulders instead of the neck and above all prevents the cat from backing out of it. The range of cat harnesses differs in cut, material and degree of security.
H-shaped harnesses consist of two circumference straps joined at the back and are light and airy. Vest harnesses have a larger surface, spread the pressure better and the cat wriggles out of them less easily, so they suit spirited animals. Figure-of-eight models are simple and versatile. Many harnesses are sold in a set with a matching leash.
The material is usually light and gentle on the fur — padded webbing or breathable mesh with adjustable buckles. Reflective elements improve visibility at dusk and a sturdy ring on the back is used to attach the leash.
Correct fitting is crucial: the harness should sit so that two fingers fit between the strap and the body, but the cat cannot wriggle out. When choosing, start from the chest circumference and the cat's temperament and get it used to the harness gradually. Never leave the cat unattended during the walk and do not use the harness to tie it up.
