This set contains 100 seeds of the Dendrocalamus strictus species, a robust tropical bamboo native to the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring areas of Southeast Asia. It is among the most sought-after bamboos for large-scale plantings, as it reaches impressive heights and forms dense, compact clumps with a characteristic appearance. The canes develop a typical green hue with age, occasionally complemented by greyish tones, and are noted for their considerable strength, which is valued in various areas of horticulture and crafts. To obtain healthy seedlings, we recommend scarifying the seeds or soaking them in lukewarm water for 12 to 24 hours, which will significantly increase the germination rate. Sow them in a deep tray with a light substrate based on peat mixed with sand or perlite, to a depth of about 0.5 to 1 cm. For germination, maintain a stable temperature of around 25 to 30 °C and high humidity, ideally in a mini greenhouse or under plastic. The germination period for this species ranges from three weeks to several months and depends on the freshness of the seeds and the microclimate of the sowing environment. Gradually acclimatise young plants to stronger light and, once sufficiently rooted, transplant them into larger containers with similarly well-draining soil.
