Overview
Bamboo Seeds Dendrocalamus membranaceus 10 pcs Mature Clumping Variety with Grey-Blue Culms for Garden and Hedges

The package includes 10 fresh seeds of the Dendrocalamus membranaceus species, a robust tropical bamboo native to Southeast Asia, where it has long been used in horticulture and for economic purposes. This species attracts attention primarily due to its unusual blue-grey hue of the young culms, which changes as the plant matures, acquiring warmer tones. In its adult state, it forms dense clumps with tall, slender culms and delicate, light green foliage, adding a sense of lightness to the overall composition. It is suitable for creating striking green walls, standalone specimens in larger gardens, or as a foundation for exotic corners or Asian-themed nooks. Growing from seed is an accessible way to acquire this unconventional timber and nurture it from the very beginning.

For successful germination, we recommend soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 12 to 24 hours to activate them and help them break through the hard shell. Sow them in a well-draining substrate composed of potting soil mixed with sand or perlite, to a depth of about 1 cm, and maintain consistent moisture without overwatering. The optimal germination temperature ranges between 25 and 30 °C, ideally in a mini greenhouse or under transparent film that retains sufficient humidity and stable microclimate. The first sprouts usually appear within three to six weeks, sometimes longer, and the freshness of the seeds plays a crucial role in this regard. Gradually acclimatise the young seedlings to normal conditions, transplanting them into larger containers as soon as they outgrow the original pot, and protect them from frost indoors or in a heated greenhouse during winter.
