Overview

U2C V2.1 Adapter with Three CAN Outputs for USB to CAN Bus Conversion

The U2C V2.1 adapter serves as a converter between the USB port and the industrial CAN bus, significantly simplifying the wiring of modern 3D printers with Klipper firmware. The CAN bus (Controller Area Network) is a communication system used in industry that allows for long data transmission, high resistance to interference, low latency, and the connection of multiple devices on a single line. The U2C V2.1 can extend this functionality to standard home printers, enabling more stable operation, more precise control, and cleaner cable management.

This version is equipped with three separate CAN outputs, facilitating the parallel connection of multiple modules, such as EBB36 CAN or EBB42 CAN boards, or other expansion components. The adapter includes protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD), preventing damage to the USB port or connected devices. The ENIG surface finish of the board ensures long life, high conductivity, and reliable resistance to oxidation.

The U2C V2.1 operates within a voltage range of 12–24 V and its connectors are clearly arranged: USB-C port, CAN-IN input, three CAN-OUT outputs, indicator points, power terminals, and protective circuits. The adapter can also be used for firmware updates of devices and supports configuration in the Klipper system. It is ideal for connecting Raspberry Pi, Octopus PRO control boards, and extruder CAN modules — resulting in significantly simpler and more professionally managed wiring throughout the printer.

Installation
1) Connect the adapter to the Raspberry Pi using USB-C.
2) Connect the power supply of 12–24 V according to the polarity marked on the terminals.
3) Connect the main branch of the CAN bus to the CAN-IN input.
4) Connect the modules (e.g., EBB36 or EBB42) to the three CAN-OUT outputs.
5) Check the securing of wires and the correct routing of cables.
6) In Klipper, set the identification of CAN devices and complete the configuration.

Explanation of Abbreviations
