Brahea armata is an impressive fan palm from the family Arecaceae, which growers have come to love for its distinctively blue to silvery leaf coloration and robust habit. Before sowing, we recommend thoroughly soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 hours, or slightly breaking the hard shell, which will improve the uniformity of germination. Young palms focus on developing a strong root system in their early years and begin to produce characteristic blue fan-shaped leaves as they mature. For long-term cultivation in central European conditions, the palm is best suited as a container specimen, which can be exposed to full sun in summer and moved to a bright room with a minimum temperature of around 5 °C before winter.
