Dog harnesses
A harness spreads the pull evenly across the chest and back, sparing the dog's neck — it suits dogs that pull, puppies and breeds prone to windpipe problems. Here you will find dog harnesses in various cuts and sizes: Norwegian, Y-shaped, full-body and models with a front clip against pulling, in padded webbing and mesh. Choose according to the chest circumference and the dog's behaviour.
Dog harnesses
A harness is an alternative to the collar that does not transfer the leash's pull to the neck but spreads it across the chest and shoulders. That makes it gentler especially for dogs that pull, small breeds with a sensitive windpipe and puppies. The range of dog harnesses includes several cuts that differ in shape, number of attachment points and purpose.
Y-shaped and Norwegian harnesses are among the most common — the Norwegian type forms a strap around the chest without a strap over the shoulders, while the Y-shape follows the breastbone and leaves the shoulders free. Harnesses with a front clip have a ring on the chest and help manage pulling during training. Full-body and vest models offer more surface and stability.
The material and features also differ — padded webbing and breathable mesh add comfort, reflective elements improve visibility and a sturdy handle on the back makes it easier to hold the dog. There is often also a ring for attaching the tag and adjustable buckles for fitting the size.
When choosing, the chest circumference behind the front legs and the dog's size are decisive — the harness should sit firmly but must not cut in anywhere or restrict limb movement. Also consider the dog's strength and behaviour: for strong pullers, wider padded models and possibly a front clip work well. For puppies, allow for growth and choose adjustable harnesses.
