Christmas lights
String lights, curtain lights, stars and lanterns light up the home, windows and garden during Advent. Christmas lights include LED strings with snowflake or star motifs, curtain and icicle lights for windows, solar strings and stake lights for the garden, light-up stars, trees, wreaths and houses, and a laser projector. They run on batteries, USB or a solar panel, and some models have a remote control and several lighting modes.
Christmas lights
Indoor string lights range from 1.5 to 10 m in length with 10 to 40 LEDs. They glow warm white or multicoloured, and the LEDs can be shaped like snowflakes, stars and moons, trees or snowmen. Shorter battery-powered strings fit on a shelf, in a vase or in a wreath, while longer USB-powered strings wrap around the tree or banister. Gold and silver garlands and ribbons have the LEDs built right in.
Curtain lights measuring 2 × 2 m or 3 × 3 m hang in windows and on walls and offer several lighting modes. The 2.4 × 2.4 m smart curtain with 256 RGBIC LEDs is controlled by remote or Bluetooth and displays colourful animations. For outdoor use, there are waterproof strings with 50 cm dangling icicles and waterfall lights with 96 LEDs across 4 m.
Solar string lights with LED stars in 5, 7 or 12 m lengths glow warm white, cool white or in colour and need no socket. Snowman-shaped solar stake lights and solar meteor shower tubes, which imitate falling snow, also suit the garden.
Light-up decorations sit on a windowsill, shelf or table. LED stars measure 15.5 to 23 cm, trees 15 to 30 cm, and the birch-shaped light tree 63.5 cm with 144 LEDs. Lanterns with a snowman or Christmas tree and houses with interior lighting give off a warm, flickering glow like a candle. LED wreaths are 30 or 50 cm in diameter, and the laser projector casts coloured snowflakes onto the façade or a room wall. E27 LED bulbs shaped like a tree with a firework effect are also available.
When choosing Christmas lights, the main factor is where they will be used. Outdoors calls for waterproof strings and solar lights, while battery or USB models are enough indoors. Warm white creates a calm look, whereas multicoloured strings and curtains with lighting modes stand out more.
