Germination of Ylang Ylang is among long-term processes and requires a stable warm environment around 28 °C for several weeks to months. Before sowing, we recommend carefully soaking the seeds in lukewarm water for 24–48 hours and then sowing them in a permeable substrate in a covered tray or in a mini-greenhouse with higher humidity. Young seedlings develop slowly in the first years and gradually form the characteristic large leaves, on which the first fragrant flowers appear in maturity. For successful cultivation in the European climate, it is essential to keep the plant year-round in a heated conservatory or greenhouse with temperatures consistently above 15 °C and higher air humidity. During the summer months, the plant can be placed in a protected outdoor location with partial shade.
