Overview
Seeds of Andean Climber Bomarea multiflora 20 pcs Perennial Tropical Vine with Orange-Red Bells for Sowing and Collectors' Cultivation

Bomarea multiflora is an exceptional climbing perennial plant belonging to the lesser-known relatives of Alstroemeria. It occurs naturally in the humid mountainous regions of northwestern South America, where it climbs over shrubs and trees among the misty forests. The larger pack contains 20 seeds, providing the grower with ample material for repeated sowing attempts and the opportunity to select the most vigorous seedlings from a larger number of germinated plants. The floral attraction of the plant is its densely clustered tubular bell-shaped flowers in a vivid orange-red colour, with a yellow-orange interior adorned with small dark spots in the throat of the corolla. Accompanying them are narrow lanceolate green leaves arranged along the climbing stems. This species will be appreciated by any collector of exotic Andean flora seeking an original climber for a bright interior, conservatory, or greenhouse.

Contents of the package:

  • 20 pcs of Bomarea multiflora seeds

The germination of this genus is renowned for its irregularity and prolonged duration, so when using larger packages, it is worthwhile to divide the seeds into several batches and observe which timing and method yield the best results. Prior to sowing, it has proven effective to soak the seeds for several hours in lukewarm water or to use cold stratification in the refrigerator, which significantly improves the uniformity of germination in some populations. Young plants gradually develop underground storage organs in their first year and only then begin to produce long climbing stems, which require constant support. When grown under European conditions, the plant tolerates short-term cooling down to freezing point, but young seedlings should be kept in a consistently warm and bright space. This package of 20 seeds of Bomarea multiflora provides a convenient supply for enthusiasts who wish to systematically work with this unconventional South American climbing herb.
