Overview
Pink Pomelo Seeds Citrus maxima Pink 10 pcs Asian Citrus Tree with Large Fruits for Home Growing from Seeds

Citrus maxima 'Pink' represents one of the most attractive varieties of pomelo sought after for the pink flesh of its fruits and a wider selection of seeds for growers. This expanded pack of 10 seeds offers the opportunity to cultivate more seedlings and select the most vigorous individual for long-term growing. This species belongs to the group of the three oldest citrus fruits from which most of today’s citrus varieties have been developed through hybridisation – from grapefruits to oranges to lemons. In maturity, the plant reaches a height of 8 to 12 metres and forms a wide, arching crown with glossy large leaves.

Pomelo bears exceptionally large fruits, which in this variety reach a size of large orange to adult head and a weight exceeding 1 kg. The skin of the ripe fruit is yellow-green to bright yellow, smooth with visible aromatic glands. The flesh of the 'Pink' variety is a very light pink to salmon colour, divided into segments with firm membranes, and has a mildly sweet taste with a slight acidity. Before consumption, it is usually necessary to remove both the thick skin and the membranous covering between the individual segments.

For germination, it is advisable to remove the seeds from a freshly opened fruit, rinse them, and leave them to dry briefly. They are sown shallowly in a permeable substrate suitable for citrus at a temperature of 24 to 28 °C. Seeds may germinate irregularly – some may sprout after 2 weeks, while others may take up to 8 weeks. Pomelo is polyembryonic, so from one seed, 2 or 3 seedlings can grow simultaneously, which can later be transplanted. Young plants grow quickly with sufficient heat and moisture.

  • 10 pcs of Citrus maxima 'Pink' seeds

A larger quantity of pomelo seeds allows for the creation of a small group of young trees from which the strongest individuals can be gradually selected. Pink pomelo gradually transforms into an attractive plant with decorative foliage, later also with fragrant flowers and large fruits. Indoors, the plant typically reaches a height of 1.5 to 2 metres and requires regular repotting into larger containers with a drainage layer. Regular care includes a sunny location, moderate watering, and a winter resting period with reduced temperatures around 10 °C. Regular fertilisation with citrus fertiliser during the growing season supports healthy growth and, in mature plants, also fruit production. Young seedlings can also be used as rootstock for grafting other citrus varieties.
