Overview
Jaeger’s Canna Seeds Canna jaegeriana 5 pcs Perennial Tropical Herb with Orange Flowers for Sowing and Decorative Cultivation in the Garden

Canna jaegeriana is a less common representative of the Canna genus originating from subtropical and tropical regions of Central and South America, where it forms part of natural ecosystems near rivers and moist slopes. This small package contains 5 seeds, allowing you to cultivate your own young plants of this rarely offered collector's Canna. The main decorative features of the plant are erect flower spikes with striking orange flowers rising above the lush foliage and large robust lanceolate green leaves with a noticeable central vein. The species is valued for both its long flowering period and its subtropical character, which enlivens summer borders, container plantings, or the edges of garden ponds. It has gained popularity among growers as a solitary plant with high aesthetic value and as a plant with an unusual species designation.

Contents of the Package:

  • 5 seeds of Canna jaegeriana

Canna seeds typically have a very hard shell, which needs to be carefully disturbed before sowing using a fine file or sandpaper, allowing water to penetrate to the inside of the seed and speeding up germination. After scarification, we recommend letting the seeds soak in lukewarm water for 24 hours before sowing them into a well-draining substrate in a covered tray at around 25 °C. Young seedlings grow quickly and soon begin to produce characteristic lanceolate leaves. For cultivation in the European climate, the plant thrives best as a summer border flower or container specimen, which should be moved to safety before the first frosts. Store the rhizomes over winter in a cooler dry space with a temperature around 5–10 °C and replant them outside in spring. This package of 5 Canna jaegeriana seeds is a suitable choice for enthusiasts looking for a less traditional form of this popular tropical ornamental plant.
