The handheld microchip reader reads the identification number of the animal from the subcutaneous glass transponder as well as from ear tags. It supports FDX-B and EMID formats according to ISO 11784/85, which means chips used for dogs, cats, and livestock in Europe. The internal memory holds 500 records, so when checking a shelter or breeding, you do not need to write down each number immediately. The read number is displayed on a colour screen with a diagonal of 3.66 cm along with the date and time of reading. The white body with a loop eye is held in one hand and operated with three buttons below the display.
- Reading range — the reader reads the chip at a distance of 0 to 20 cm, with a greater range for ear tags than for small glass chips.
- Reading speed — reading takes less than 100 ms, so you do not need to hold the animal still for long.
- Operating frequency — the device operates at frequencies of 134.2 kHz and 125 kHz, which correspond to common animal transponders.
- Transfer to computer — data is transferred via USB 2.0 and the reader is recognised as a keyboard, so the number is directly typed into a spreadsheet or text field.
- Power supply — built-in 800 mAh lithium battery with a voltage of 3.7 V allows operation without connecting to a computer.
- Sound signalisation — a buzzer confirms successful reading, so you do not need to watch the display.
- Operating conditions — the reader operates within a temperature range of -10 to 50 °C, so it can be used in stables or outdoors.
- Dimensions and weight — the body measures 17.8 x 8.5 x 1.7 cm and weighs 76 g.

The reader is useful for veterinary practices, shelters, breeding stations, and livestock owners during record checks. Keyboard emulation means that no driver or software needs to be installed on the computer, just open a spreadsheet and start reading. The memory for 500 records allows you to go through the entire breeding and transfer the data only after returning to the office. Before purchasing, it is advisable to check what chip format you use in your breeding, as the reader will not read chips outside the ISO 11784/85 standards. For fieldwork, it is recommended to charge the battery in advance, as the reader does not have replaceable cells.

How do I return goods?
- Email us at info@lunzo.ie with your order number and the items you are returning.
- Pack the goods and send them by post to the returns address in Spain.
- Send us the proof of dispatch with the tracking number – this lets us refund you without waiting for the parcel to arrive.

If the goods need to be sent back, we will refund the postage for a valid claim (just provide the receipt).
