Overview
Fonkan FS20 Bluetooth and USB Microchip Reader for Animals Memory 500 Records FDX-B and EMID ISO 11784/85 Display 3.66 cm White for Dogs and Cats

The handheld microchip reader scans the animal's identification number from the subcutaneous transponder or ear tag and transfers it to your phone or computer. Bluetooth with a range of up to 20 m allows you to send scanned numbers directly to a mobile app or spreadsheet, so you don't need to have a laptop with you. Supports FDX-B and EMID formats according to ISO 11784/85, which are chips commonly used for dogs, cats, and livestock. The scanned number is displayed on a colour screen with a diagonal of 3.66 cm along with the date and time. The white body with a loop eye is held in one hand and operated with three buttons below the display.

  • Three transmission methods — send data via Bluetooth, wirelessly at 2.4 GHz, or via USB 2.0 depending on where you maintain your records.
  • Wireless range — the connection at 2.4 GHz works up to 80 m, so you don't have to run back to the computer while checking in the stable.
  • Keyboard emulation — the reader identifies itself as a keyboard, so the number is typed directly into the spreadsheet without the need for driver installation.
  • Record memory — the internal memory holds 500 records, which you can transfer in bulk after completing your rounds.
  • Reading range — you can read the chip from a distance of 0 to 20 cm, while the range for ear tags is greater than for small glass chips.
  • Reading speed — scanning takes less than 100 ms and is confirmed by a buzzer sound.
  • Operating frequency — the device reads at 134.2 kHz and 125 kHz, which corresponds to standard animal transponders.
  • Operating conditions — the reader operates from -10 to 50 °C, so you can use it in the stable as well as outdoors.
  • Dimensions and weight — the body measures 17.8 x 8.5 x 1.7 cm and weighs 76 g.
  • Package contents — 1x microchip reader

The Bluetooth variant is suitable for veterinarians in the field, shelter workers, and breeders who maintain records on a mobile phone or tablet. Directly entering the number into the app eliminates errors that occur when manually transcribing fifteen-digit codes. The built-in 800 mAh lithium battery lasts for a typical round without recharging and charges via USB. Before purchasing, please verify which chip formats you use in your breeding, as the reader cannot read chips outside the ISO 11784/85 standards. The device's offer is in English.
