The species is characterised in adulthood by a branched trunk topped with dense tufts of narrow sword-like leaves in a rich green colour, creating a very picturesque appearance in the landscape. Young plants initially form a single stem with a rosette of leaves and only over the years begin to branch, thereby acquiring a typical tree-like character. Growing from seed is a rarely available way to obtain the plant while also observing all developmental stages. For successful germination, it is advisable to soak the seeds in lukewarm water for several hours before sowing to allow them to swell.
